Graphic Design and Photography 10 (5 credits)
In this introductory course to graphic design and photography, students will be exposed to Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, and Lightroom CC. Working on projects that include typography, logo design, and illustration, students will cover a ton of ground and come out with a solid understanding of the basics of each program and how it is used in various industries. In photography, students will work with DSLR cameras and understand how to work with natural lighting as well as long exposure light painting, in addition to exploring the fundamentals of composition and what takes a photograph to the next level! Graphic Design and Photography 20 (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Graphic Design and Photography 10 In Graphic Design and Photography Intermediate, students will start to go deeper into exploring the industry trends and techniques seen presently in the fine arts as well as in the marketing and advertising worlds. Students will be trained in using the photography studio and will have the opportunity of directing their own photo shoots and graphic design projects. In addition, students will work on client projects for the school that could include photographing an athletic event or designing posters to advertise a school club. Film and Animation Studies 25 (8 credits) Prerequisite: Film and Animation Studies 10 In this intermediate course students will be exposed to analytical discussion behind the decisions made and intent in film and television (yes, TV!) and the power these mediums have as a tool to communicate intimately with audiences on a variety of topics. Films (including animation) studied will cover a cross section of modern and historically popular films, as well as lesser known films from Canada and around the world. Students will also produce two projects including a documentary short or an animated short in either 2d or 3d. |
Graphic Design and Photography 30 (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Graphic Design and Photography 20 In the advanced level of Graphic Design and Photography, students will go even further in exploring their own creative style and areas of interest. Whether it be in the marketing industry or the world of fine arts, students will have the opportunity to use the studio space and equipment to experiment with highly technical ideas as well as challenge themselves in their own artistic thinking. Film and Animation Studies 35 (3 credits) Prerequisite: Film and Animation Studies 20 In the advanced level of Film and Animation Studies, students will work on one final project that encompasses what they have learned over the past two semesters. They will have the entire term to create a video/animation project that allows them the time to go deep into the execution of their creative vision. In addition, they will deepen their discussion on film motivation and how the process of creating a shot is executed. |
